As part of the England's Golf Coast campaign I spent the day with colleagues from Liverpool, Southport and Fylde at the Open Golf championship in Royal Birkdale yesterday. The cold and unrelenting rain did not deter the fans (nor the majority of the golfers) from supporting the event and the England's Golf Coast stand became a welcoming beacon for many to shelter from the weather.

A few weeks ago I visited Old Holly Farm near Garstang on an organised Pre-School outing with my youngest daughter. Like many days in June, it was drizzly but two, three and four year olds don’t seem to bother about the weather and it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s enjoyment, in no small part due to the great facilities at the attraction and the excellent organisation of the visit by the staff.

My weird and slightly childish love of crazy golf saw me trying out the new adventure golf course at the Pleasure Beach over the weekend. In glorious Blackpool sunshine we tried out this newly opened 12 hole course, complete with water obstacles, astro-turf and frustrating hurdles.
