Yesterday I was lucky enough (along with my brother) to be treated to Sunday lunch by my Mum and her partner. As she hails from Yorkshire I always try and find somewhere new to go and eat when she visits.
After a recommendation from Sarah at work on the Friday we took the short drive along the road to the newly refurbished Windmill Tavern at Salwick near Preston - Highest Quality Assured Grading.
We were greeted by a very friendly head waiter who, straight away saw us to a big table just on the join of the windmill and restaurant - the first thing i noticed was the very sympathetic renovation work and the many tale-telling pictures surrounding the walls.
We were all immediately tempted by the Sunday Carvery we could see from across the restaurant and ordered the two courses for only £9.95. I would have to say that as you never really know what you're going to get with a carvery we were all incredibly impressed as the meat on offer was all locally bought - and delicious!! Everyone left with a very full belly ready for a Sunday afternoon nap on the sofa.
So if you're looking for somewhere a little different - and for someone else to do the family Sunday roast then I would really recommend this hidden gem.
I noticed last time we were there that they've changed the menu for the summer season so some very tempting starters and puds to go with your carvery!
