I’ve had the pleasure of attending the circus show at the Tower for the last three or four years now and I am constantly amazed by the endless array of talent so this weekend as my son Josuah, husband Colin and I all set off for a visit to Blackpool Tower I knew we would not be disappointed.
After wandering through the aquarium we decided to beat the rush and take the Tower Top Ride and see if any of us were feeling confident enough to chance the Walk of Faith. As usual it was just Josuah who didn’t mind crossing the glass abyss that always manages to turn my tummy. The view from 518ft up still fills me with awe and looking down at the town the regeneration work was very evident. The new headland across from the tower is progressing well with lovely Spanish style steps leading down to the beach. We could also see the new promenade area to the south that Tim and his family blogged about last week, and then just to the back of the town it was possible to see the new plaza area being created in St Johns Square. Being up there really does let you see the changing face of Blackpool.
Last year the Tower underwent a major refurbishment on one of its floors resulting in the new Jungle Jim play area, Jurassic walk and 3D cinema and a redesigned food court. The food offer was much improved on previous visits and the restaurant seating area was modern, bright and clean, something we noticed about the rest of the building. It’s not perfect but all the public areas were tidy and cared for.
The circus didn’t disappoint and both an eleven year old and two forty somethings were kept enraptured for almost two hours during a dazzling display of twisting and turning, jumping and flying talented acts.
We had a terrific day out and the Tower is truly deserving of the Large Visitor Attraction award it won last week.
