I've been taking Monday as a holiday for the last 4 months to ease myself back to work after Maternity leave. All well and good but it's come to an end. The way forward was to gather together with my new 'baby chums' (that's what happens when you have a kid!) and treat ourselves to a day at a spa. Luckily one of the group has also decided to get married so we could treat this as a 'hen day'.
It would be the first time we had all been together without bumps or babies so the choice of venue was very important. We trawled through a number of possible venues and ended up chosing Brooklands near Garstang. What a great choice!
On arrival we got our lovely robes and towels and began our day of pampering. Immediately the atmosphere and the amenities of the spa sent us all into relaxation mode and it took all our efforts to move from pool to hydrotheraphy pool, from steam room to sanarium. Add in the effect of a Decleor facial and I was away with the faries.
Lunch was in the dining room (in robes of course). The Thai prawn salad was delightful - especially topped with a glass of champagne to celebrate Dani's impending nuptials! We then had to lounge about for a bit having pedicures while the lunch settled (hard life) in the comfiest chairs known to man and looking out at the relaxing view with the odd peacock wandering across the gardens.
More 'swimming' and relaxing occurred until we realised that the day had flown by and it was time to leave. Our faces glowing, toes sparkling and shoulders not hunched around our shoulders we reluctantly made our way home. I would definately recommend a day at Brooklands. Being treated like a princess for the day never does a girl any harm.

Oh I need one of those days! Off to Brooklands next week. I'm so looking forward to it now.
