Last night I was lucky enough to be one of the nearly 10,000 people in Bloomfield Road who watched a truly magnificent game of football, which for those dressed in tangerine, ended with the perfect result ( 2 – 1 to Blackpool if you’re interested).
Watching the away supporters I suddenly realised that far from taking the three hour journey home many of them were booked into local accommodation so they could make the most of the opportunity to spend some time in Blackpool and enjoy its other facilities and attractions.
Blackpool is developing a reputation as a sports haven having recently hosted several world class cycling events, the national kite surfing championships, and this weekend European volleyball. Why not keep upto date on all the events by regularly checking visitlancashire.com or by signing up to our newsletter, and if you are attending any of the events taking place in the county don’t forget to check out our accommodation pages so you can extend your stay.
Back to the football and if last night is anything to go by, investment of both time and money seems to be reaping its rewards on the pitch - let’s hope the same will be said about the rest of the town.

Keep up the good work Mr Ian Holloway. In the last few weeks, Blackpool FC have beaten the likes of Wigan, Everton, Newcastle and Notts Forest.Getting vertigo seeing Blackpool so high in the league! Up the Pool !

Being a Bolton fan (and living in Blackpool) it is so lovely to see Kevin Nolan (ex Bolton Wanderers) being beaten by Blackpool. tee hee
