Schools Out! It was raining and my Sister and I had 3 bored Children to entertain on Monday... I suggested a visit to Farmer Ted’s Farm Park on the B5195 between Ormskirk and Formby as working for Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board I was aware of the awards they had won and the developments that had taken place over the last few years.
We arrived around lunchtime and was greeted by a friendly face who told us about all the activities we could timetable into our visit. First stop was The Field Theatre were Bimbo the Clown had just started his Magic Show. Perfect! My two year old was obsessed with clowns and our 6 year old was eager to be picked to assist with the magic tricks – thank goodness he was picked before he burst with excitement!
After the show we made our way through the animal barn and visited the baby lambs, shire horses and the biggest pig we had ever seen! The ferret racing was about to begin but our stomachs were rumbling so we made our way to The Grill in Farmer Ted’s Barn. They had a great choice of meals and reasonably priced, the bonus was that after lunch we could sit with a coffee whilst the children played in the 3 storey soft play area.
We then headed outside so the kids could have a go on the Pedal Go-Carts and Pedal Tractors before enjoying the highlight which was a ride on the Tractor and Trail Ride which took them around the fields to see the larger farm animals. Even though it rained on and off throughout the day we didn’t really notice as there was plenty of undercover and indoor activities. Overall the day was a great success with all of us enjoying a day out with a difference. It was great value for money and the staff were ever so friendly. The children had a ball and spent all their pocket money in the gift shop before we left. They all fell asleep in the car on the way home - In true terminator style – I’ll be back!

We agree, a great day out.
Try out the on-farm butchers, the sausages were great.
