If you’re looking for a fun filled family day out full of rides, adventure and adrenaline, then head for Camelot Theme Park, I have driven past many times, as it is just off the M6, and decided it was about time I took my family and checked out what the park had to offer.
So off we headed, as you enter the park you’ll see a whole host of rides.
The first to tempt us was Pendragons Plunge – akin to rubber boats on waterslides. As you set off, count – one, two, three, go, wet bum! It was a fab ride taking you down a small hillside through some tunnels too and my three year old seemed to love the fact that he was dry whilst I had caringly got very wet on his behalf.
Whilst wet we thought lets go for the log flume, and as a result we were all drenched. However, with the sun breaking through, it wasn’t too long before we were dry again and headed for the adjacent Kingdom in the Clouds offering good views off the park.
The good thing about Camelot is that there’s also some quiet areas for a picnic and a farm area too (Squire Bumpkins) where you can feed the goats, see the piglets and chicks – the snoring pig was a particular favourite.
For us, there were two ‘stand out’ rides – a rollercoaster known as Knightmare. This one you can see from the motorway and when you’re on it, it seems a lot bigger. I was just admiring the rolling Lancashire countryside at the top of the rollercoaster climb when my seven year old was pointing out at high volume the drops we were about to make. At the end of the ride we were both somewhat paler. He hated it so much that he had to go back on again – this time with mummy!! Our other favourite was the Dragon flyer – a fast moving train / rollercoaster that shoots around the park and through the woods.
Apart from the rides, there is an indoor soft play area, go karts, arcades and a jousting arena, complete with real Knights. My least favourite was the Cup ‘N Sorcerer. In the past I have suffered with motion sickness and dizziness and sitting in a giant tea cup rotating very fast, not long after lunch, really wasn’t a good idea on reflection.
We had a great day out and would thoroughly recommend it to any family looking for a fun day out – it’s open until September 5th.

I wouldn't go here, it has been abandoned since 2012 and heavily vandalised since. Going here would give you a different 'thrill'. There are many creepy pictures and videos from urban explorers.

Unfortunately Tim mine is now too big - his words not mine - to go to Camelot but can totally concur with your description of the day - a wonderful place to visit with the kids in a very safe environment
