Agricultural shows are a great way to discover new producers, pick up tasty treats to take home and generally re-connect with our rural heritage. They also make a great family day out over the summer, with a variety of kid’s entertainment and activities, plenty of farm animals to see and some unusual sports to watch.
Great Eccleston Agricultural Show
18 July
Some of the best livestock in the country will be in the main ring, along with horses, sheep, pigs, goats and rare breeds. The tractor pull will take place on both days and the show field will be packed with stalls and produce marquees.
Green Fayre, Beacon Country Park, Upholland
24-26 July
See demos on a variety of woodland crafts including, chainsaw carving, willow weaving, basket making and hooping. The show arena will also include sheepdog trials, viking battles and birds of prey displays.
Garstang Show
1 August
Celebrating its 200 year anniversary this year, the Garstang Show also has a children's marquee with shows from Katy Ashworth and Betty Balloon. (There’s also an indoor soft play area and parents will have a chance to watch fashion and gardening shows whilst their kids play) Highlights include The Sheep Show, Stunt Show and dog agility. Take along your dog and see if they can win a prize for having the waggiest tail or the best trick!
Royal Lancashire Show, Ribchester
7-9 August
Livestock displays, food and drink stalls and venders, marvellous crafts, a huge country life area, lots of traditional entertainment and avenues of trade stands.
Trawden Show
9 August
Arts & crafts, fell races, vintage vehicles, strongman competitions and equestrian and livestock showing, and more.
Lunesdale Agricultural Show, Kirkby Lonsdale
11 August
A traditional show featuring livestock, equestrian sports, family entertainment, vintage vehicles, birds of prey, craft and trade marquees.
Hodder valley Agricultural Show, Dunsop Bridge, Forest of Bowland
12 August
Experience a slice of rural life in the idyllic setting of Dunsop Bridge, the geographical centre of Great Britain.
