The landscapes across our beautiful county is home to rugged moorland, meandering rivers and canals, breath-taking countryside and a significant area of stunning parkland enjoyed by locals and visitors alike! Setting the scene, our landscapes really encapsulate the imagination full of creativity which is evident in our rich and varied events.
One annual event which really integrates the landscape whilst performing fascinating productions is the Dukes Walkabout Theatre held in Lancaster’s Edwardian Williamson Park every summer. The Dukes Outdoor Theatre is the nation’s largest outdoor theatre transforming the parks stunning scenery and grandeur into the perfect theatre set. Taking visitors on a journey into the parks fairy-tale forest, meandering paths, looming trees and wildlife.
With a different production every year throughout July to mid-August, the walkabout theatre embarks visitors on a journey like no other. Throughout the play, you will be able to discover Williamson Parks splendour and the breath-taking views along the way looking over the Fylde Coast and the Lake District on a clear day!
Alas, this year’s sparkling production sees Williamson Park transform into Treasure Island 4 July – 12 August. Don’t miss this opportunity to follow Jems exciting quest for treasure accompanied by a whole bunch of pirate buffoons on her adventures. Theatre that takes you on a mind-boggling journey into a surreal and extraordinary environment taking advantage of some of Lancashire’s best landscapes!
