As PR work goes, entertaining journalists over a quality meal in pleasant surroundings is definitely one of the high points of the job! This is just what we did a couple of weekends ago at Lancaster House Hotel, when writers covering Woman's Own, The Times, Fresh magazine, The Daily Telegraph, Sunday Times and The Sunday Mirror were in Lancashire to hear more about Taste Lancashire 08 and visit some of our finest eating places and food retailers, and to meet our food producers.
It was a very enjoyable weekend with many highlights, not least from Peter Ascroft from Worthington Farm in Tarleton who spoke passionately to the writers about cauliflowers, and has a wonderful website on all the vegetables he grows in West Lancashire.
The new Ribble Valley Food Trail, produced by Ribble Valley Borough Council, has generated lots of interest. BBC Radio 4's The Food Programme has covered it in depth, the Press Association are set to follow and The Guardian are with us this Easter weekend, also checking out the trail that features numerous Ribble Valley quality food businesses.
