Last week during a well earned week off work, my Dad braved trip over the Pennines from Yorkshire to treat me to lunch. I decided to choose The Millstone at Mellor after having a great staff Christmas party there in 2007. I know my Dad's a big fan of rustic, home-cooked food so knew the Millstone would be right up his street! Finding it surprisingly busy for a Wednesday lunch time we managed to get a cosy corner to enjoy our lunch.
We both started with the soup - a warming thick, root vegetable soup with fresh crusty bread. I then had the popular Bowland Beer Battered Fish and Chips (an obvious favourite with customers) and my Dad had the Bowland Lamb Shank - of which he complimented as the most 'melt in the mouth' lamb he thinks hes ever had!
Both feeling rather full we then headed to Huntley's Farm Shop for a quick look round as my Dad fancied some local sausages to take home. When arriving I was shocked to see the new Food Hall fully open to the public! With a butchers, fish mongers, and deli counter, wine, furniture and clothing shops, this great space really has everything you could want...and a bit more!
After picking up some local treats...including some Honey White Chocolate Moo 2 You Ice Cream, we headed home, greatley satisfied after our fab afternoon out.
