I didn’t really give it much thought when Kate and I booked to try out the recently opened Go Ape at Rivington – I’ll give anything a try (once). As I stood at the edge of a tree top platform gripping tightly to the rope swing and willing myself to swing out towards the distant cargo net I was beginning to have doubts!
It is hard work, fun and slightly scary, no let me correct that, it’s more than slightly scary, despite the harnessing and constant safety measures there is still something worrying about being stuck up in a tree with no way down except via aerial wires and wobbly bridges. We worked across suspended platforms, climbed rope ladders, balanced on poles, heaved ourselves up cargo nets – and then finally blissfully decended by aerial slide into a pile of soft wood chips!
(Incidentally the photograph isn't of us - we were clinging on with both hands!)
Every credit to both of you. They would have to put me in a straight jacket to get me up their swinging in the trees!! Still it's all character building - keep up the good work!
