It's been perfect weather to spend time at some of our brilliant outdoor attractions. Recently I've been having picnics in some of the parks and countryside we have in Lancashire (well, May was Picnic Month after all). My favourite spot has been on the green by Lytham Windmill.
On Monday I spent the day as any self-respecting mother-with-a-day-off should do. A long and lazy walk with friends and babies from Lytham to Fairhaven Lake, an ice-lolly to cool down, around the lake and back to Lytham for a small lager shandy. It was great to see loads of people out and about - boating on the lake, sunbathing at Granny's Bay and alfresco dining in Lytham.
The highlight of my week though was yesterday's trip to Blackpool Zoo. The three new baby lion cubs have to be the cutest little things you've ever seen. The Zoo was enjoying a busy day - loads of young families and foreign tourists. Other highlights were the cheeky monkeys in Amazonia, the sea lions having great fun splashing around in the water and seeing the amazing burst of speed by the silverback gorilla when the food was served. I've got my (great value) annual pass now - there's no stopping me! A perfect way to spend a morning.
