As Sarah explained I was very excited about going to Go Ape, the opposite of Sarah who was so nervous she couldn’t eat her lunch beforehand!
It had been raining, a lot, all morning and the thought of our afternoon being cancelled made me upset, so I was very happy when we read on their website that “the course remains open in all weathers, except when it is icy, stormy or during lightning!” So off we went through the lovely scenic village of Rivington.
After the briefing session and go on the training wire we were off into the trees, 40 ft up at one point! Everyone was having so much fun, lots of laughter (and screams) could be heard probably a good distance away!
Nobody decided to ‘chicken out’ at the points where you could go two ways and all took the ‘extreme’ option rather than the ‘easy’. I think the ones at the back where worried they would have been laughed at if they did take the ‘easy’ route, but it was all in good humour!
Zipping from platform to platform and taking lots of snaps it is afternoon I will remember.
If there was one piece of advice I could give, it would be watch your footing when climbing down the ladders on course 4 and not put your foot in between the ropes, as you will end up a tangled mess like I did! (See image!) Cilla came to my rescue, whilst the rest snapped away! Once I had managed to stop laughing for a minute, and telling everyone to stop taking pictures, I was somehow free. It could only happen to me! On a positive note though I never realised I was so bendy!
It was a great afternoon, one I would recommend to all! I can’t seem to stop talking about it - I do apologise to those who have to listen to me!
