Running a 50 capacity passenger boat on the Leeds Liverpool canal all year round means that we see the changing seasons and work in all weathers. Every day is different - when the weather is awful it can be a real challenge to keep our visitors entertained, but we must be doing something right because visitors tell us often that they did not expect the canal trip to be so good. (Our visitors also appreciate being allowed to eat their own food on board our canal boat.)
We tell our visitors about the cow named Buttercup that fell in the canal and then swam through Foulridge mile tunnel. We also tell them about the history on the route including the stew mill, which made felt hats 250 years ago and is still operating today as a weaving shed.
Probably the most exciting event in the last 15 years was the visit by HRH Prince Charles for a sail down the canal in Burnley and the kind letters we received afterwards.
We offer boat trips year round, which is quite a unique thing in the Pendle and Burnley areas of Lancashire.
