Go Ape! at Rivington, Nr Chorley has been crowned Lancashire’s Best Tourism Experience of the Year and what an experience it is. Where else can you have such an exhilarating up in the trees adventure? With high-wire tree crossings, zip wires and stomach-hollowing Tarzan drops from a 40 feet platform, all surrounded by the picturesque scenery of reservoirs and woodlands in this beautiful part of Lancashire.
Having opened in 2009 to add to the many courses throughout the UK, Rivington appeals to a wide range of customers all looking for something different from a day out – a great adventure and of course great fun! They even welcomed a 90 year old lady which proves you are never too old to Go Ape!
Go Ape! attracts an enviable following from visiting ‘tribes’ from across the county communicating as a twitter and facebook community. Why not check out the ‘Banana blog’?
The on-site tea room at the Great Barn is the perfect place to get reacquainted with the earth and share your experiences with fellow apes. You can even pick up a souvenir to remind you of your time in the trees.
The team at Go Ape! are dedicated to visitors safety and enjoyment and really are ‘The undisputed kings of the jungle’
Swan Spectacular!
Continuing on our theme of getting closer to nature what better way than to visit WWT Martin Mere, Nr Ormskirk where from November to March up to 2000 Whooper swans make the perilous 1000-mile journey across the North Atlantic Ocean to spend the winter at the site. The swans are fed twice a day, creating a completely unique and natural experience where visitors can see the incredible sight and enchanting noise of all of these swans feeding right in front of you. This cannot be experienced anywhere else in England. You can understand why Swan Spectacular was awarded a highly commended placement in the Tourism Experience of the Year category.
Of course there is so much to do at Martin Mere all year round as the centre is home to resident water birds, otters and beavers. It remains a firm family favorite.
Tony
go ape ... yes i did when i saw what they'd done to a local beauty spot ... turned one of my favorite childhood walks into an adventure playground ... that they've got the nerve to charge for.
used to climb the same trees for free when i was a kid.
a disgrace ... commercialisation at it's very worst, they could have done the same thing anywhere where there's tree ... town parks etc ... not a beautiful place like that.
