Excitingly we are almost there!
Our teams of event organisers, performers, artists and stewards have gathered, ready to Light Up Lancaster. This year’s Light Up The Streets event promises a unique and amazing experience, with light and art installations, interactive projections and activities, dance and music pieces and lots more on the Friday evening.
Saturday’s event, Light Up The Skies, promises a host of family friendly activities during the daytime culminating in a spectacular fireworks display from the top of Lancaster Castle at night.
The city is buzzing with projections specialists installing their amazing exhibitions in the city centre – highlighting and changing the façades of our familiar buildings. The pyrotechnics experts have planned the fireworks display down to a “T” – each spectacular firework carefully chosen to fit with the rousing and atmospheric soundtrack which will play throughout the display – and will also be broadcast on BBC Radio Lancashire (104.5FM).
Our troupe of talented dancers has been rehearsing diligently, ready to perform their series of vignettes along the historic streets of the city. Artists have been working with our local community to create stunning pieces which will be showcased along the route – in place for you to spot on the evening.
Musicians have practised their haunting tunes, all set to accompany the fascinating exhibitions taking place in our venerable buildings and squares. Our dedicated team of stewards has met to find out all about the event – so they can ensure a safe, fun and enjoyable night for everyone. The official Light up Programme for the weekend has been distributed all around the city centre and further afield – so do make sure to pick up a copy when you’re out and about in the attractions, shops and cafés of Lancaster – or pop into Lancaster Visitor Information Centre.
We’re all set to welcome you to come and Light Up Lancaster with us – we hope you’re excited too! See you there!
